The Programme Data Workstream is under the Programme Cycle Management unit. The workstream coordinates and manages programme related output data emanating from the country offices within the region. Currently, there is a huge amount of output data within the region which keeps on changing as the country offices continue implementing their Country Strategic Plans (CSPs). This data needs to be managed in COMET and DOTS (corporate systems) in accordance with WFP set guidelines to support in critical programme decision making and corporate reporting. In addition, there is always need for programme data to be shared/accessed by relevant stakeholders for reviewing programme performance and making right programme decisions.
COMET is the corporate system for capturing, validating, and sharing programme output data while DOTS supports in data visualization and integration with other systems . RBN has been facing challenges related to some COs delays in monthly distribution data entry and validation in COMET. This negatively impact on CO programme performance. Thus, there is need to enhance capacity of RBN programme data workstream in supporting COs to ensure programme food distribution data is well managed within the system.
We are seeking to recruit for the position of Programme Data Intern in the Programme Cycle Management Unit.
Programme data intern will play a critical role in managing a significant portion of data related basic routine work, hence allowing senior programme data associates focus on other critical workstream deliverables during the internship period.
The programme data intern will also provide an opportunity for the workstream to provide on the job technical skills transfer to a fresh graduate in managing programme data using WFP corporate systems (COMET &DOTS) . This will expose the intern to WFP data management systems/guidelines and enhancing his/her potential to grow and become an expert in this area. The intern will also come in handy to provide critical support for the data workstream in reviewing programme data availability in COMET and supporting other programme units to access/extract the data as required. In addition, the intern will use the data system management skills acquired to establish a unit-based network of programme data liaison (PDL) focal point, train them and provide support on data access, extraction and visualization from systems thus enhancing capacity of units within the programme on effective data management.
