Job Description

PURPOSE

To receive, account for and ensure safe keeping of all payments both at the office and the bank. Responsible for capturing all financial transactions within the company including Preparation of management accounts, updating ledgers, reconciliations and payment approvals. To also provide general customer service in respect to all lines of business for all CIC subsidiaries.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Issue receipts immediately and accurately for all cheques/Mpesa/EFTs transacted during the day and allocate to specific policies or invoices immediately and before close of business;
  • Keep and update registers of all vendor/intermediary cheques from the Head Office;
  • Reconcile debtor accounts as instructed by the Branch Manager/finance manager;
  • Prepare intermediary commission payments;
  • Tagging and verification of assets;
  • Provide input for the branch reports;
  • Handle customer service issues/complaints related to payment of premiums, underwriting and claims;
  • Escalate Customer queries to the relevant job role if necessary;
  • Facilitate prompt payment of invoices to our local service providers;
  • Keep and update records of payment of utility bills;
  • Present banking slips, daily receipt control sheet and banking summary to the branch manager daily for cross checking and sign off;
  • Maintain accurate and complete cash book and petty cash records on a daily basis and update all accounts records and registers;
  • Prepares daily cash flow statements and executes inter-account transfers on approval by the Finance Manager;
  • Prepare Bank reconciliation;
  • Prepare, analyze and explain monthly budgetary reports and forward to the finance manager;
  • Prepare audit schedules and provide necessary feedback to all internal and external auditors;
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and end year financial statements;
  • Update and reconcile general ledger and cash book;

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Professional Qualifications

  • CPA Part 1 or its equivalent is desirable

Experience

  • Up to one (1) year work experience
